Following a regional win, Tech Writers Bureau CEO and author John Breeden II earned national recognition with a silver medal from the American Society of Business Publication Editors.
The award was for an ongoing series of reviews that Breeden is writing for CSO and CIO Magazine. A compilation of reviews on deception technology earned the national silver medal. The award-winning feature was entitled How Four Deception Tools Deliver Truer Network Security.
The feature described how smart attackers know how to find and follow network activity to find valuable assets. Deception technology takes advantage of that and sets a trail of normal-looking network activity to draw would-be attackers to fake assets. What happens next varies from product to product, but “all know with near certainty that an attack is taking place,” Breeden wrote.
Amy Bennett is Breeden’s editor at CSO. She shares the honor of this award. Bennett and Breeden created the reviews program for CSO, and the publication runs at least two in-depth cybersecurity reviews per month.
“I am grateful that my editor Amy Bennett and CSO magazine took a chance on starting up a reviews program with me and the Tech Writers Bureau,” Breeden commented from TWB’s Washington Bureau after receiving the awards. “There are not many publications willing to invest the time and energy into a full-fledged reviews program, and I am very happy and humbled that the magazine’s many readers as well as my journalistic colleagues have recognized all our hard work.”
