Every year, the American Society of Business Publication Editors award medals for stories that appeared in business magazines over the previous year. For the 2018 awards, TWB CEO and prolific author John Breeden II was awarded a silver medal for his feature, How Four Deception Tools Deliver Truer Network Security, in CSO magazine.
The feature described how smart attackers know how to find and follow network activity to find valuable assets. Deception technology takes advantage of that and sets a trail of normal-looking network activity to draw would-be attackers to fake assets. What happens next varies from product to product, but “all know with near certainty that an attack is taking place,” Breeden wrote. This article examines the unique features that four top deception tools bring to network defenses.
